The story behind the Continuums.
“After listening to Rogers LS3/5a’s for a while, I became intrigued by how they achieved such a wonderful, natural-sounding midrange. Many mini-monitors either sound thin or, due to baffle step compensation, can sound a bit too full.
After collecting all the documents I could find from the BBC, and after quite a bit of studying, I figured it out. I don’t think many people will figure it out. I decided to replicate it, but with more modern drivers, sort of a continuation of the design concept, hence the name Continuum. I even opted for a plastic cone woofer, though that wasn’t required. I used a much more robust tweeter and a lower crossover point, and in the end, the Continuum perfectly matched the design target.
Anyone who has listened to the Continuums will tell you that the midrange magic is there. Regarding the Falcon Acoustics version, they certainly look like the LS3/5A, and the drivers are excellent facsimiles of the original. However, from the reviews and measurements I have seen, I see no way they sound like the original, especially in the midrange. It appears Falcon doesn’t realize where the midrange magic comes from.”
